RSI , Recycling Sciences, LLC, (herein after referred to as RSI) Solvent Vacuum Systems, are vacuum systems designed for high volume solvent waste streams in either batches or in a continuous flow stream. These vacuum systems range in size from the RSI-30 Vac, with a 30 gallon stainless steel tank and the RSI-55 Vac with a 55 gallon vacuum tank capacity. Vacuum systems can be ordered with either air powered pumps or electric powered pumps of the 120 Volt or 240 Volt classification. Naturally, all are explosion proof so they can safely be operated in Group I, Division C and D, hazardous locations.

Each can recover a wide variety of solvents through vacuum distillation. Use of a vacuum system to reduce the atmospheric pressure in the cooking chamber can significantly reduce the boiling point of a liquid. This option can reduce heat‑up time, distillation time, and consequently, energy costs in operating the heater. It is further recommended that any solvent with a boiling point over 350 F be recovered with the use of a vacuum assist. This will significantly reduce total distillation time, and result in a more uniform recovered product.

RSI vacuums are designed to be used only with RSI solvent distillation systems, and with no others, for the safe distillation of evaporative solvents. They are only to be used in strict accordance with the in­structions as set forth in RSI = s Operations Manuals. It is imperative that every person who is allowed to operate the vacuum systems be re­quired to read and understand the contents of these manuals. Operation of the vacuum systems in any manner other than as is specifically set forth in the instructions in these Operation Manuals may result in an explosion or fire or injury.

They can be used in most industrial processes, whether continuous flow or not. Many of our systems have vacuums as an integral component but in other systems, vacuums can be ordered as an accessory. All RSI systems are built to withstand vacuum. Remember, on continuous systems, the product code tank capacity in gallons is not the flow capacity of these systems.

RSI solvent recovery systems, depending on the contaminate in the solvent, can easily be cleaned. All RSI Industrial systems are designed for the safe solvent recovery of volatile and flammable solvents. Each is designed to be explosion proof and is therefore well suited to distillation of flammable solvent. Each is built to withstand vacuum. Many Industrial plants and Biodiesel plants have discovered they save up to 95% by solvent recycling on site, such as Methanol and Ethanol, and reusing these solvents, over and over.
